Find the right home for your players.
Why geography matters, and how to choose a server region for your community.

A server region is more than a location on a map. It is where your game runs and where your players’ connections need to travel. Choosing a region close to most of your community is a sensible place to start.
Look at your community first
Ask where your regular players are based. If most live in the same part of the world, a nearby region is usually a straightforward choice. If the community spans several continents, look for a reasonable balance rather than trying to find one perfect location for everyone.
Distance is only part of the story
Network routing, a player’s internet provider, and their local connection can all affect latency. A nearby city is a useful clue, but actual connection quality can differ. If a provider offers a way to check connectivity, use it with a few players before you commit.
Understand your options
Purpify lists New York, California, and Frankfurt as hosting regions. Compare those locations with your players’ locations, then check the available configurations in the client area. Ask the team if you need help deciding.
Revisit the decision as you grow
Communities change. A server that starts with local friends may eventually welcome players from elsewhere. Keep an eye on feedback and discuss any future region change with support before moving a live world.
